With the claim of being both the southernmost and westernmost city in New Zealand, Invercargill is also fondly referred to as the capital of South. Located in the Southland region of the South Island, Invercargill has not only plenty of things to do, but is also bursting with good old southern hospitality, culture and history.

There is no better way of celebrating this friendly city than by keeping a piece of it close to your heart, which is what you do when wearing our handmade Invercargill map pendant necklace. Crafted from nickel free metal which is either plated in silver or bronze, each pendant measures 25mm across and hangs on an 80cm ball chain.

We’ve paid particular attention to detail when making creating each piece, carefully positioning the miniature map in just the right place under the glass dome. We’ve even added the cutest mini heart right next to you, letting you show others just how close this southern city is to your own heart. How about adding a small ‘home’ tag right next to your pendant? You don’t have to have lived here or made it your hometown for it to have captured your heart; anyone who loves it can call Invercargill home.

When looking for things to do in Invercargill, a great place to start is at the i-site Visitor Centre. Full of information on local tours, parks and events, the visitor centre is a great place to start planning your visit at. From here you can find out about the Bill Richardson Transport World, sure to impress motoring enthusiasts, the Civic Theatre, with it’s beautiful English Renaissance architecture or even book an outdoor guided kayaking or hiking adventure in Fiordland.

Invercargill also has a fabulous mixture of Maori and European culture. Many of the old historic buildings date from the 1860’s and are made with local stone in traditional English style. Maori arrived earlier in the century, attracted by the plentiful seafood and birdlife. There is also a distinct Celtic influence within the city too, thanks to some of our early European settlers.
Caring for your Invercargill map pendant is easy and doing so will give you many years of enjoyment. Simply remove before entering any water and apply perfume before putting it on.
