The Christchurch Cathedral Church sat proudly in the middle of our central city. My hometown.
On the 4th of September 2010 was hit by an earthquake causing superficial damage to the Cathedral
The beautiful Rose Window sat proudly in its stonework until a 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit on the 22 February 2011 when the spire fell and the walls and pillars were severely damaged.
Then on 13th June 2011 when the Cathedral was hit by a 6.4-magnitude earthquake causing the Rose Window to fall and with that the decision arose whether the Cathedral needed to be deconsecrated and demolished.
The Catherdral has since been deconsecrated and sadly stands in ruins.
